On 20 October War on Want will be marching alongside trade unions, community groups and ordinary people from across the UK because we believe that poverty is political.

War on Want will be marching against austerity and the attack on the welfare state. The UK government is not punishing the few in the banking and finance sector that caused the global financial crisis, but instead hitting hard the many who are the poorest in society. We have always put workers’ rights at the centre of our work. We have always shared the vision for a future that works.
The march on 20 October aims to send the government a strong message that we don’t want their flawed alternative economic plan. We want a future where workers can earn decent wages not merely exist, where big bonuses are penalised and tax evasion by big companies and the super-rich is eliminated. It would tackle the growing inequality between the super-rich and everyone else. We want a future that works.
Read our statement about why we’re marching. We will be marching in London, assembling at 11.30am at the bottom end of Surrey Street, London WC2R (map), for the march to Hyde Park. Look out for our banners and join us.
