The State Attorney General’s Office began the appeal process of the sentence

Nullity of Chevron’s award: The State Attorney General’s Office initiated the appeal process of the judgment On December 15, 2020, the State Attorney General’s Office, representing Ecuador’s interests, notified Chevron of its decision to file an appeal against the judgment issued on September 16, 2020 by the District Court of The Hague, Netherlands, which rejected the request for annulment of the Second Partial Award in this case. This appeal seeks to reverse the decision issued in the first instance and, therefore, insist on the request for annulment of the arbitration award that determined the State’s responsibility in favor of that company. The Office of the Attorney General of the State will execute all the actions provided for in the Law to protect the national patrimony and the public interest in all cases.

De mi consideración:
Me refiero a su comunicación de 25 de noviembre de 2020, ingresada en la misma fecha a esta Procuraduría, por medio de la cual nos exhorta a presentar el recurso de apelación en contra la sentencia dictada por la Corte Distrital de La Haya, dentro del proceso de anulación del Segundo Laudo Parcial, emitido en el arbitraje conocido como “Chevron III”. En virtud de las competencias constitucionales y legales, corresponde al Procurador General del Estado la representación judicial y el patrocinio del Estado y de sus instituciones. Por lo tanto, en ejercicio de las mismas, interpondré todas las acciones que, de conformidad con la ley y en mi criterio, procedan en defensa del patrimonio nacional y el interés público.
